The most interesting thing, I find, is that everyone is right. The
sister is right that "independence" is taught from youth so that
children will naturally learn to care for themselves. Biz is also right
that the p...opular connotation of "independant woman" is typically in
relation to a relationship with man. And what Sundiata is saying is
that the reason we even have a distinction in the first place is due to
the devisive torture and training bestowed upon us in slavery. WE ARE
SUPPOSED TO LIVE INTERDEPENDANTLY WITH ONE ANOTHER. MAKE NO MISTAKE,
INDEPENDANCE AND INDIVIDUALISM IN SOCIETY IS A EUROPEAN CONCEPT TRAINED
UPON US OF AFRICAN DECENT. WE NEED ONE ANOTHER, BROTHERS AND SISTERS. -
