WordPlay is lyrically one of the finest artists the United Kingdom has to offer, with his appealing marriage of hard flows and intelligent content, he is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise largely saturated genre.

WordPlay (real name Tao Rogers-Wright) was Born in the south of London,
where he grew up with his mother until there eventual move to the west of the City in the mid 90s.

Tao has been performing on stage and in front of the camera since an adolescent, appearing in a no. of advertising campaigns from "Going Live" and "Mr Blobby" to Popular shows like "Blue Peter" as well as appearing in International Films such as "DandiDust" a NEW BOYS PRODUCTION and a success in Japan for Director HANS SCHEIRL.

Mid 2002, Still un established, Tao met another young man known as LowKey, The UK Rapper responsible for Underground Classics Like "The Mad World Remix" aswell as The "Key to the Game" Trilogy, WordPlay with his influence made the transition from Rapping "for fun" to Rapping for a reason with feeling.

Rapidly building his status on the underground circuits. Before its hiatus a regular at Deal Real open mics and free shows in London. After receiving such powerful reviews, he began taking a more real and effective approach the industry process.

"..hospitals slack cus we lack in ade-quit cover tryna stay in funds without an income or salary you lookin for reality? Im big bruva!"

Tao continued to train professionally for a career in drama, until early 2005, when an incident left him unable to walk for several months costing him parts in two well known "Urban" Productions being filmed at that time. On Crutches and still auditioning, Tao was awarded a place with the national youth theatre and over the following year or so enjoyed several successful productions with the company.

2006, sore the release of "Words of Advice" Vol. 1 receiving respectable feedback despite an absolute lack of promotion. While in 2007 we had expected to welcome the eagerly anticipated "Life Behind Scars E. P." Due to an (all too common) unforeseen circumstance release was pushed back a further 4 Months. (2008), WordPlay Fans could expect a host of collaborations spanning from talented Unknown International Producers such as Jamaica Queens own Celos through to the exceptional home grown talents of Adaggio the Violinist/Producer set to take the world by storm in the coming years. Whilst you can expect to hear collaborations from a wide spectrum of artists from around the world, Because, Music IS bigger than a Post Code, with that said... In an effort to maintain West's rise in acquiring the recognition it deserves, you can expect to hear WordPlay alongside a host of local talent such as Insane (My Life) and Cajevara (ask your girl) amongst others in a attempt to show case the ability West London has to bring to the table.

More Recently Wordplay has been involved with the new MONGREL Project. "Mongrel merges the UK indie music scene with a hip hop community ignored for the large part by the wider media. Tackling themes shied away from by mainstream musicians, Mongrel was mixed and dubbed by Adrian Sherwood of ON-U-SOUND." As a result Wordplay has toured, opened for and performed with UK Top 10 Band Reverend and The Makers at events from Clapham Commons Loaded to Glastonbury and T in park Festivals. Wordplay features on several tracks off the album BETTER THAN HEAVY including Alphabet Assassins Remix, Act Like That and Better them than us. The album has been distributed worldwide as well as being Released free attached to copies of The Independent newspaper on March 7th 2009

Wordplay has appeared on tracks with artists Ranging from Jon Mclure and Skinnyman, Lowkey and Romain to Nolay, Pariz 1, Wrech 32 and Kyza

Working with a host of producers sprouting from Stretches of Africas' Ivory Coast, down to the streets of Spanish Jamaica Queens and Detroit City, as well as Londons' Finest no doubt Wordplay is set to release his latest project "Emotional Victory" in mid 09.

WordPlay (Tao) is a Skilled Professional, Actor/Musician available for bookings and castings.
